Coming back to work has been an emotional adjustment for me, especially having to pump throughout my shifts in a space that doesn’t feel comfortable, welcoming, or peaceful. Pumping already requires time, privacy, and a lot of mental energy, and having to sit in an environment that feels more like a storage or utility space has made the experience even harder.
I want to create a space where moms don’t dread their pumping breaks, but instead feel comfortable, supported, and cared for while they’re doing something so important for their babies

Thank you!! Jess sent me a great link to nominate our hospital for an upgraded lactation room, and hopefully we get picked! I just got back from maternity leave, and three of my coworkers are now on leave having their babies. I want to make sure they have a cozy, comfortable space to come back to when they return.
Two of them are first time moms, too, so I know how emotional it can be coming back after having your baby and stepping right back into such an intense work environment. I’d love for this space to feel like a little place of comfort and support for them when they need it most.
Exactly! It’s so important! I’m honestly so sad that they took our original lactation room away. It wasn’t the best space either, but at least it felt like an actual designated room for moms. This new space feels like they just shoved us into a storage room, and it’s awful.
That’s why I’m so passionate about making it better. We deserve a space that feels comfortable and welcoming. Especially with our job being very busy and stressful at times.
That room could definitely use an upgrade! It’s kind of depressing. It looks like they just gave you a storage closet to pump in. I hope you are able to get the upgrades that room needs!

I was also wondering if you guys have thought about going to thrift stores or garage sales and see what you can find for the room!
I’ll definitely keep this community updated I haven’t even looked yet and that’s such a great idea! I’ve been pumping in this room for the last two months, and honestly, I’ve reached a point where I felt like I needed to take matters into my own hands because no one I had been expressing my concerns to was really taking action.
I’m sure I’ll probably be the one doing most of the restocking, but I know when the girls come back, they’re going to be so happy to see the changes and will be more than willing to help keep it a cozy space
