Before I Became a Mom

Before I became a mom, I was first a nurse. Besides emergency medicine, most of my time spent as an RN has been with pediatrics! I love being a nurse and caring for tiny humans. I genuinely love my job-holding tiny hands, advocating for little ones who haven’t found their voice yet, and even supporting parents when they need it the most.

Since having my daughter, I have taken a huge step back from my role and work very part time so I can be home to raise my own. I have had a job since 16 years old and taking this step back now has helped launch me into an identity crisis. Most days when I’m home and don’t leave the house, I feel like I’m simply “mom”, not RN, not wife, not friend or sister- just mom. That feeling of my life having been flipped upside down while the world keeps spinning. I don’t have the right words to express how incredibly grateful I am for the title of mom, there are definitely some days I miss my work. I know I’m making the right choice by staying home to raise my baby, but I miss that sense of accomplishment and feeling like I was making a difference in the world. Does that make sense? Anybody else feel that way? :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I feel that way too sometimes but we are doing the most important work raising our babies

Just saw a post from a mama who said motherhood has added to who she is as a person and I think that’s a beautiful way of looking at it! Instead of it completely taking over who we are we can let it contribute to our overall growth as women  don’t know if maybe thinking it of that way might help:slightly_smiling_face:
