This week, I wish someone could help me decorate for my baby girl’s 1st birthday and Baptism this weekend. Hiring someone isn’t really possible because it can get so expensive, especially here in California. So we’re keeping it simple and intimate at a family-owned restaurant we love, plus a little BBQ on our patio before my mother-in-law leaves.
I’d be lying if I said I’m not a little bummed. I went all out decorating for my first and second babies. Back in the Philippines, everything was so much cheaper, and now with baby number three turning one here in the US, things just look a little different this time around.
But hey, life is still good. Simple celebrations are still full of love, and I know she’ll feel that the most.

birthday decorations are cheaper on temu last year I bought both kids decorations on there and didn’t spend a whole lot and it looked like I did and I plan on doing the same again this year.
like you said all she will know is how much you love her and want to celebrate her!that’s truly all that matters decorations are just for a day or two but intentions are forever that feeling is what matters most
The most important thing is to be with the people you love and the people who cares ! I can understand for the décoration. Everything is expansive now, it’s so crazy. Sometimes in thrift stores, it’s possible to find some great little treasures, but it takes time. Otherwise, maybe check with friends to see if they could lend you some things.

Amazon has some cheap first birthday kits. I think I remember seeing them for like$10-$20 for the less expensive ones, and some of them came with a lot of stuff. One thing my mom used to do for me when I was a kid was tape balloons all over the living room. They’d be hanging from the fan and just literally everywhere. Then she had a happy birthday banner she would reuse every year. She slowly built a collection of decorations over the years. It was always so exciting to see so many balloons everywhere, even up into my teen years! I hope she has an awesome birthday and baptism!
