✨ Don't Leave the Hospital Without Asking for a Sitz Bath 🤎 (Phase 2/3)

After three vaginal deliveries, one thing I always make sure to have during postpartum is a sitz bath. :brown_heart:

With my very first baby, my postpartum nurse brought me a sitz bath, showed me how to use it & explained how much it could help with healing. I honestly had no idea what it was before then, but it became one of the best parts of my recovery.

After my last two deliveries though, no one mentioned it or offered one. It wasn’t even brought up as a way to promote healing. Thankfully, I already knew how beneficial they were, so I made sure to ask for one to take home anyways.

I fill it with lukewarm water and add a little witch hazel and Epsom salt for extra comfort. Then I sit for 10–20 minutes and simply let my body rest. It helps soothe soreness and relieves inflammation but it’s also one of the only moments during those early postpartum days where I can just take an actual break and breathe. No rushing. No multitasking. Just peace, quiet & a chance to care for myself while my body heals.

After intense labor and deliveries I can truly say those little moments of self care matter. :brown_heart:

So if you’re delivering in the hospital, don’t be afraid to ask your postpartum nurse if they have a sitz bath available to take home. Even if they don’t automatically offer one, it’s absolutely worth asking about. Your body has done something incredible it deserves every bit of comfort and support while it heals. :sparkles:

My best friend sent me some because I was struggling healing and this was amazing

I got one of these, but was never able to use it since I got a C-section. I can imagine it’s very soothing after pushing a baby out though!

:sob::sob: Im truly sad that there are moms out here that never knew this or didn’t use this method to heal.

I wish it was a requirement to educate prior to discharge!!

This was honestly one of the best things that helped me heal. I truly feel like it sped up my recovery while giving me a few quiet moments to focus on myself and a little much needed TLC.

With your C-section, what helped you the most during your healing journey? I’d love to hear what made a difference for you!

I’m the example of what you shouldn’t do lol. I wore my belly binder for 2 months when you’re supposed to take it off after a few weeks. I stayed in my rocking recliner for two weeks straight. (You’re supposed to get up and move around, which I did not because it hurt) All day and all night except to shower and use the restroom. You would think I was on bed rest! Nope! Luckily my awesome husband was able to cook for me and change our daughter’s diaper as needed and hold her when I had to shower or use the restroom. I held my daughter 24/7 for those two weeks. So yeah, I’m not the greatest example for this one lol

Yes! Please, make sure you write it in your journal of things to ask and leave with post delivery :raising_hands:t2::brown_heart: for me I feel like it speeds up recovery.

Lol thanks. I listened to my body too much, and my body said nope! :joy: I’m so grateful my husband took such good care of me during that time. I would have definitely been doing a a lot more if he hadn’t been able to help me though.
