My daughter has been nursing less frequently during the day. She’s almost 20 months old. And then half the time when she says she wants a boob, she only nurses for 5-10 seconds. It’s so frustrating. At first, I thought maybe my milk flow was too fast. But then whenever my breast didn’t feel very full, she did the 10 second suckle, so I don’t think it’s that. A fast milk flow has never stopped her before either. Could she be weaning on her own? Does anyone know what it’s like when a baby weans themselves?

My son does this some times. It could be the start of weaning or she just wants to check that she can get it when she wants. My son will giggle afterwards tho.

That might be it then. I’ll just have to wait and see if she keeps doing it. I think she does want to nurse sometimes simply because she sees my boobs, and then she changes her mind
