We just got back from a big trip to take my son to college, and we made the 8-hour drive each way with my 7 month old and 5 year-old! It was a long ride, but a few things made traveling with both kids much easier:
Plenty of toys – Having different toys to rotate through kept the baby entertained and gave us something new to offer when he got fussy.
Planned stops – We stopped for nursing, diaper changes, and a chance to get everyone out of the car and stretch.
purées in pouches – I transferred his purées into pouches for quick, easy snacks without the mess of trying to feed him from a container in the car.
7-in-1 Travel Bottle Brush – This was so convenient for keeping bottles, pacifiers, and baby items clean while we were on the road.(make sure you take plenty of extras!)
Change Go Stroller – This was a LIFESAVER! It carried my baby, all of our gear, and made getting around with two kids so much easier.
Momcozy Diaper Bag – I was able to fit everything we needed for baby in one place, which made grabbing what we needed during stops so much easier.
We also brought along our portable baby chair which helped make feeds a lot easier!
Leave early! – We left really early in the morning so both the baby and my 5-year-old could sleep for a good portion of the drive. That gave us a much-needed head start before everyone was fully awake and ready to move!
Traveling with kids definitely takes more planning, but having the right things with you can make a LONG trip feel so much more manageable.
