Mom to mom relay đź’–

I wish I knew I didn’t have to listen to the pediatrician on weight gain.

My baby was having plenty of wet diapers but the doctor felt he needed more feedings.

I wish I knew I could have let my baby sleep. I wish I knew I could let him sleep and not wake him up constantly in fear of him not eating enough.

Our first baby was the guinea pig, unfortunately. We went on to have three more. We let them sleep and let them wake up when they want more food. I wish I knew that the first time! :sparkling_heart::heart:

So true ! We think we’re doing the right thing anyway. Lesson learned mom!!:face_blowing_a_kiss:

It’s so frustrating when your pediatrician gives you bad advice. I don’t think babies need to be on a schedule like that unless they have a medical reason to be. A schedule is nice to have, but your baby isn’t going to go to sleep or eat just because you say it’s time…at least that’s been my experience!:joy: I just recently stopped following the whole wake windows and sleep time by age. My daughter is 18 months old now, and sleeps and eats when she want as long as she’s asleep for bedtime by 9pm

I’m so sorry you were told bad advice. I definitely feel like my first is my guinea pig. I’m definitely still learning with my second.

We switched pediatricians with this baby and she is so helpful and kind I wish I would have done it years ago.

This! My first breastfeeding journey was my 4th kid so I wasn’t new to the whole mom thing but I was to the breastfeeding aspect. My sons 1week appt came up and they said they didn’t like the way his weight was looking so had me go back in a week later. We went and still they didn’t like his weight gain, so they suggested I put 1 scoop of formula in my breastmilk. My baby reacted terribly to the formula! I stopped it then went to his drs for another weight check up. The dr goes “wow I see that formula is helping” I just sat back with the biggest smile on my head, can he got 1 bottle of formula. The rest was all me :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Way to go mom!!! Incredible :heart::heart:

I’m so thankful for my pediatrician! We had weight issues and the honestly exhausted all options before saying we needed to supplement and they even told us we really want that to be the last option. We go to a family owned practice over a policy driven chain and I think it makes a difference.

Oh, that is so hard. I remember waking my baby to sleep. I hope you found a new supportive pediatrician :yellow_heart::yellow_heart:

The lessons we learn the first time around will always stick with us I just wish we didn’t have to learn the hard way

We stuck with the same one because we really like him but we don’t bother with telling him we don’t wake him lol. Jet actually gained 5.5 ounces in 4 days!! It was crazy:rofl:

So true! The first baby is always the learning curve. It’s amazing how much more we trust our maternal instincts with the next ones! :heart_hands:

I always say lessons wouldn’t be lessons if we didn’t learn them the hard way !
