Non-stop wrist pain

Hello mama, has anyone had issues with wrist pain? I have to support the baby to keep the latch intact. Unfortunately, becauseof that I have developed constant pain in my wrist. Before it was once in a while, but now it’s non-stop.

So sorry you’re dealing with that constant pain! Definitely look into a supportive wrist brace and try tucking rolled towels or nursing pillows under your arm to take the pressure off while feeding. It might also be worth getting it checked out by a doctor or physical therapist if it doesn’t improve..

I get that sometimes too! It started during pregnancy actually. Mine is carpal tunnel and my wrists really hurt and get numb. I have these wristbands by Tommie copper that really help.

This is tendonitis!! Also called mommy’s thumb or mommy’s wrist cause it’s so common for us!

Mine was so bad I couldn’t get my son out of his car seat! It started in my third trimester and got so much worse after delivery. I think the edema and all the fluids plus hormones made it worse.

I would see a PT or a chiropractor that does shockwave. It was expensive to do shockwave but it’s what helped tremendously!! My tendonitis was the worst part of my recovery and I had a c section!

If it’s not that bad yet, you can get a resistance band and do exercises (write abcs, flex, massage). If it’s really bad, shockwave would help break down all the adhesions and promote blood circulation to repair it correctly. Mine was over 8 weeks but went from pain scale 6 to 0. I rated my contractions 4-5 just for reference cause I tolerate pain differently.

UGHHHHH I hate modern medicine sometimes and the push to treat things the wrong way!

You absolutely need to do what’s best for you if you’re in a lot of pain, but steroid shots can actually make tendonitis worse. Pain is good, it’s our signal to take it easy and not overwork that area and steroids mask that and stop the natural healing process. Steroids will not fix anything, it’s just pain management, so make sure you still do some PT exercises to help the underlying problem too!

I did a deep dive into this  so want to share what I learned! Cause I almost went down that same path.

Thank you, everyone! Unfortunately, it’s more than regular pain. I need to get a plaster. I am going to miss you all for a while. It has to stay on for 8-10 weeks.
