Once again, my husband really wanted to help, but I couldnât allow him to share the load. We were at a family get together at his exwifeâs house for our 5 year old grandsons birthday party. Yes, I had a grandson before my daughter was born. My husband is 14 years older than me and his daughter is 25. Such a strange little world we live in! Anyways, it was well past nap time and my daughter had been awake for 8 hours (5hours awake is her usual). They had a few dogs and she did not want to leave them. She had been spending all her time following them and putting her hand in their mouths
So I took her to the car and rocked her as she cried harder than Iâve ever seen her cry. I thought it would never end! I finally got her to latch on after attempting to get her to nurse for what seemed like forever and got her to take a nap in my arms. My husband did give me a nice shoulder and back massage before bed because I was so sore from holding her, so I suppose he did share the load, just not how I wanted him to. Not that I didnât want the massage. I really did! But dang, I was at my wits end trying to get my daughter to calm down and nap! Pic of her before we left. She was the life of the party!!
Trying to get them to nap when they are overly tired is extremely difficult especially if you arenât at home. When that happens my husband or I take the one that needs a nap and put them in their car seat to get away from the situation to calm down and we ride them around the block and usually they fall right to sleep and then we take them back in and lay them down to nap. I learned real quick that is what works best for us when we were at my MILâs house for Christmas(she makes a whole day event out of it
) and I was trying to rock my son and she comes in and sits and talks super loud and he wouldnât go to sleep
so I got my husband to take him on a drive around her neighborhood and he fell asleep immediately or we just leave and say well itâs nap timeâ![]()
I thought about doing that. I should have! Itâs a great idea! Cause girl, it was the hardest naptime battle yet! I thought she would never go to sleep! Thankfully I had my travel sound machine with me, so that helped a little bit
They are not fun when they are that hard
And I LOVE the travel sound machine it helps sO much!
We do the same THING! It works like a charm for us when we are out!
Me too! It wouldâve been so much harder without it
