Periods and breastfeeding

Getting your period while you’re still breast-feeding is not fun. I think every Mom here can agree. It’s not fun because postpartum periods are unpredictable. The cramping is really bad and the flow can be more than you’ve ever experienced at the same time. It could all end up being normal for you out as well. But for me, the worst part is the dip in my supply. I feel like the Word dip’s not even appropriate. What helps me through this?

Keep nursing and keep pumping. I pump a little bit more during the week before my period. Then I nurse because my nipples get so sensitive.

Keep the pumps going, even though there’s next to nothing coming

Lastly, I had a couple of Mom’s recommended magnesium and calcium so I’m going to be trying that my next week before my period

For context, here is a pump the week before my period and here is a pump after my hormones regulated again.

It’s such a huge difference in milk supply! My periods haven’t been the same either….i used to be super light for only 2 days. Now it’s like I’ve reverted back to puberty and need the super heavy pads, and it lasts for 6 days. Maybe this means my reproductive system is healthy again. I think it was slowing down before

That’s such a huge difference. I keep seeing calcium and magnesium may help. It might be something to look into and talk to your doctor about!

I didn’t take my regular prenatal postnatal pill for the past two weeks because I have to do my thyroid test and my doctor makes me hold it so I do wonder if that is impacting me as well cause I’m probably just low on everything
