I had an emergency C-section with my first baby and another C-section with my second. One thing that really helped me was staying active during pregnancy, even if it was just a 10-minute walk every day. After both of my C-sections, getting out of bed was so hard, but once I started taking short, gentle walks, I felt like my body healed a little more each day. Just don’t overdo it. Take it slow, get up carefully, and listen to your body. Having support made all the difference. My husband would bring the baby to me for every feeding so I didn’t have to keep getting out of bed. Those little moments of help gave me the chance to rest and recover.
Breast comfort is another thing I wish I had known more about. In the early days, my nipples became sore and cracked while my baby was learning to latch. I used a little virgin coconut oil, and it really helped soothe them. If you prefer a natural option, it can also be used as a lubricant while pumping to make pumping more comfortable.
One simple tip that helped me was checking my nipple after each feeding. If it stayed round, it usually meant my baby had a good latch. If it looked flattened or like a lipstick shape, it was often a sign that the latch needed to be adjusted. Catching that early can help prevent soreness and cracked nipples.
Just wanted to share a few things that really helped me. Every mom’s experience is different, but I hope this makes those first postpartum days a little easier for someone. ![]()
