Pregnancy complications

Trigger warning : loss

Honestly I wish I knew more about PPROM (preterm premature rupture of membrane)

I have referred to my now toddler as my rainbow baby. I lost my son due to PPROM at 20 weeks, and honestly I had no clue what was happening until it was to late. And the Doctors just talked fast and didn’t really explain anything. I also wish they would give more sonograms!! I only had one sono at 8 weeks pregnant this pregnancy.

With my next pregnancy, I had a sonogram every two weeks. at my 16 weeks appointment they found that I was already dilated and funneling. I had to get a cerclage to keep from going into labor and having pprom again. honestly I just wished I knew more, I don’t know if it would’ve changed anything but I could have least have been on the look out for the signs. And because I knew more with my rainbow baby I was able to keep her in until 35 weeks by having a cerclage.

So sorry to hear that. Blessing to your rainbow baby for being here. I don’t care how annoyed doctors get, I ask countless questions until I have a clear understanding. I’m not to familiar with PPROM, wish I was so I can help you there. I do agree they don’t give many ultrasounds. I didn’t get my first one from the doctor til 10w, they wouldn’t give one sooner. I said from the doctor because at 6w, I went to the private ultrasound that licensed to ease my mind. They usually gave them in malls or different places.

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. It’s so easy to blame ourselves when things go wrong but please remember you did everything you possibly could have with the knowledge you had.

But also congratulations on your rainbow baby!

During the pregnancy (with my rainbow baby) I had so much anxiety we were in and out of the hospital often just to check on her. I ended up having gestational diabetes and preeclampsia, so she was born at 35 weeks 4 pounds 7 oz. Not nicu luckily. She now about to be 2 a big mamas girl. And this week she started calling me mommy. She’s literally one of my greatest blessings. Thank you for asking about her:heart_hands:t4::heart_hands:t4::heart:

Yes it most definitely was shock and grief. It happened in 2023 and I still miss him everyday. I don’t blame myself no more though so progress

No doubt sister :heart::heart: he’ll always be with you. I’m glad you don’t blame yourself. I know that’s hard to do. I’ve gone through losses myself and it’s been 6 years and I still feel that way:heart: all my love to you :heart::heart::heart:
