On the day I turned 8 weeks pregnant I was knocking on the lab door first thing in the morning to get my test done, definitely know the feeling :joy: The curious thing though is that my partner didnā€™t wanted to know before the baby was born, I still donā€™t know how, but I did manage to keep it a secret from him

Also it is possible for boys to show up as girls on the blood test, the way itā€™s done is by trying to detect tiny fragments of the Y chromosome in the maternal bloodstream, that way if any traces of Y are present it means itā€™s a boy since, women only have X chromosomes, if not then itā€™s assumed to be a girl. Sometimes though thereā€™s not enough fragments of the Y to be detected and some boys show up as girls on the really early testing. Itā€™s kinda like a pregnancy test, a false positive is (nearly) impossible, but false negatives can very easily happen, so ā€œfalseā€ boys are as well extremely unlikely, but ā€œfalseā€ girls really happen hehehe.

On the NIPT test itā€™s a loss less likely for the gender to be wrong because this one is actively looking for fetal DNA on the momā€™s bloodstream and analyzing it more profoundly, also itā€™s usually done a few weeks later on pregnancy so the amount of babyā€™s DNA information found on mothers is bigger.

Yes thatā€™s very true. They wouldnā€™t do my NIPT test to I believe 12 or 13 weeks. After 10w for sure, they wouldnā€™t do it before.

I honestly donā€™t know how I did it :joy: But he was genuinely surprised and it was amazing to watch him meeting our baby boy

See I was opposite the girl names were hard for me or at least the full name. I had two options for the first name. Also Iā€™ve been waiting to have kids for a while so I had both a boy and girl first name at least.

Thatā€™s so funny for how much I wanted a boy the girl name just came to me so quick!! The boy names I just had so many different names I wanted I couldnā€™t pick we actually picked his name the day I left the hospital :laughing:

That makes sense lol. Kind of same for me I have his name but I want to add a second middle name but Iā€™m going to decide once I see him.
