Okay mommas, this may be a hot take, but my tip for FTMs out there is this: Pregnancy clothing is fun but NOT required (at least the first time around). I’ll be the first to say that it’s fun to shop for maternity clothes, but it’s also SO EXPENSIVE! Like, why? My main tip when it comes to maternity clothes is one that saved me money and allowed for comfort as my body changed: get pregnancy pants and undergarments for sure. These are, in my opinion, the required clothing items that you get maternity. I started wearing maternity pants the first trimester for comfort and still wear maternity underwear/undergarments PP! Other clothes will most likely work in larger sizes. However, if you really want other maternity items, my bonus tip is this: Thrift, thrift, thrift! I also wanted some dresses and shirts in maternity size, so we went to a second-hand/thrift store nearby and I snagged several items at $6-$15 apiece that, when I found them online, were $30+! One of the dresses I found (included pic) ended up being my baby shower/maternity shoot dress it was that nice!
To conclude this novel : Don’t break the bank getting a new wardrobe, ladies! Get the needed items like pants and underwear, and thrift the rest! Your wallet (and partner) will thank you!
This is such great advice! I love maternity clothing and nursing tops. Another place to check is at baby resale shops. I didn’t know they carried nursing and maternity wear until I went shopping at one for clothing for my daughter.
Yes! There are pop up sales around my area that are primarily kids things but they have maternity and nursing wear there too! I found a great jumpsuit for pregnancy there that was usually 40+ dollars! I need more nursing tops though. Only have two, and one I wore all through my hospital stay after birth (it’s a pajama top haha)!
Yes! Seriously though! I also feel like it’s hard to find good maternity wear without theifting. The market for maternity clothes just isn’t as good as it was like even 5 years ago
There’s some really good deals out there! On of my favorite nursing top is tank tops with the nursing clip. I found some good maternity low cut tank tops without the bra shelf too.
All of my favorite nursing tops came from thrift stores!!! We go out thrifting as a family when we’re able! I actually just found a brand new Momcozy pumping bra for $2 at our local thrift store last week. I was so excited!!!
