I wish I knew to take my son to speech therapy sooner. We aged out of the community speech therapy and now are waiting for kindergarten. While we are waiting I’ll be doing private speech therapy as my son really needs it. I wish there was more resources available. More education on speech and more tools for mamas to help their child.
I haven’t had to deal with this. But I do know it’s not talked about enough. Most people online say wait it out or they will learn when it’s time, but some baby/ kids do need help sooner. I’m sorry that there aren’t a lot of resources out there
I wish more people knew this was an option. I worked in the front office at a speech physical therapy and occupational therapy clinic for a few years and saw what a difference it makes.
I like the chart. Thank you for sharing! Sorry to hear about the speech delay.
Yes a lot of parents are scared to reach out or accept help too. Or they think they will just grow out of it. My son’s old speech pathologist was so shocked I asked for anything that can help my son. I was pretty on her for resources and she was able to give us a few extra appointments to help.
It makes a huge difference. It also teaches the parents how to do homework at home and so they get more out of speech therapy.
Glad to help and spread awareness. Thank you it’s a lot of work but I’m just trying to give him the tools he needs to be successful
Wait does earwax cause speech delay though!!? I read the bottom of this and now I’m freaking out
You don’t have to wait until kindergarten! My daughter when she was 3 her doctor said if we are able to take her to headstart (like preschool) we can they do speech therapy there . Depends on where you live and what state . I’m from California and we have headstart to start helping toddlers with speech and to learn before they start actual school !
No I think that was a question probably someone asked. I found it on the Internet. With all my doctor appointment, hearing test and ENT specialist I’ve never heard earwax can cause speech delay. I am not a doctor and can’t give any medical advice.
Oh okay hahahaha sorry I feel dumb now
Yes we started speech therapy at 3 too. My son just aged out of the program and now has to wait for the school program in September.
Don’t feel dumb it’s a valid question. I had lots of questions navigating ear infection and speech delays
Yeah I guess I’m in the same boat I wish I knew sooner
Thank you for sharing this
This! I saw so Many parents that were scared about their kids having to have speech therapy and it was so beneficial for them and they improved so much! It was so amazing being able to see the growth in the kids that came to the clinic.
Yes. I can be scary knowing you child needs help and admitting they need help. I wish we started speech therapy way sooner. It’s amazing how much it has helped my son. I know we have a very long road ahead of us as his speech delay is severe. But we also have an amazing team of doctors and speech pathologist to help us along
Awh once he starts talking it’s going to hard to get him to stop lol you got this mama! I wish there was more resources available
Yes its was strange at first when he started talking more. Now he’s talking us up a storm
This is such a helpful chart! I just had my twins do an evaluation to determine if they’re hitting their milestones and they are going to start PT. I hope them starting early can help their development. Thank you for sharing ![]()
