As a first time mom I felt a disconnect from my old self. I’ve changed so much, for the better. I have my son and my sobriety. I’ve stayed grounded with maintaining my hobby of spinning yarn and crocheting. The act of creation reminds me, I’m in control. I can create, but only if I choose to create. I can tear apart a project if I choose to tear apart a project, but then I’m left with a mess of my own creation. It’s a reflection of staying in control of my life. There’s certain things that are out of my control, but I can get out of bed and choose family and healthy hobbies over personal vices. I can be the wife and mother I want to be. I can be stillme The things I’ve worked for and accomplished in this life will stay accomplishments, a blanket holds it’s warmth. MomToMomRelay

Thank you so much! Quitting a 9 year lifestyle was hard. I wanted to quit sooner. I was trying to ween and taper, then I found out I was pregnant so I went full send, cold turkey EVERYTHING. Even caffeine. Choosing my son makes it easy, I choose to be better for him everyday.
Before I had my son I tried, but selling my work didn’t give me as much joy. I LOVE gifting crochet items. The look of joy and surprise is worth it every time for me.

This is amazing!!! I’m trying to learn how to spin wool since we have sheep and just recently sheared them!! Got any advice for a first time spinner??? I just got a machine for my birthday as you can tell I’m a newb 
Oooo you’re so lucky! What breeds do you have? I really like drop spinning merino. I recommend unicorn power scour for scouring the wool after you skirt the 1st cuts. Dawn dish soap works too. If you use hot water to scour, make sure for the second wash on any washes after are close to the same temperature when you transfer the wool or it may felt. Try not to agitate the water when you put your wool in and take your wool out of the soak or it may felt. And make sure to skim the lanolin or dump the water outside or it’ll make a grease clog in your drain. Once it’s dry, picking the fibers so they’re facing the same direction, then carding is easy. You can always use 2 large dog brushes if you don’t have access or want to spend the money on hand carders. I’ve only ever processed raw alpaca. But I’ve seen lots of sheep wool processing tutorials. There’s a lot of drop and support spindles that are super affordable. I got my drop spindle off Etsy for around $20 The electric eel wheel is what I use for a size and cost effective spinning wheel. Hope this helps!
We have Suffolk !!! One big male but getting like 4 females here this month, we sheared him and our friends sheep too, his wool is so many bags full so hoping to get this down before the rest come in hahaha

Oh! When you’re plying, is you spin with an S ply with a Z or if you spin with a Z ply with an S. You Always should ply with the opposite direction that you spin. Same rule with chain plying.

Really!!! We had goats already but our friends are moving so they gave us their sheep and they only could transport this big guy so we are going to pick up the rest!! We have the land for them so we figured why not! Haha but ive never spinned wool in my life !! In the process of processing the wool that’s a whole other ball park I’m learning but it’s fun I’ve always wanted to do this
