The Emotional Side Nobody Talks About 🄺

One support tip I would add for moms during postpartum is to check on your emotional self just as much as you check on your physical recovery. Everyone asks if the baby is eating, sleeping, gaining weight, how many diapers they have… but sometimes nobody asks mama how SHE is actually doing.

For me, becoming a mom after years of fertility treatments and losses has been the most beautiful and overwhelming thing I’ve ever experienced. I waited so long for these babies, and now I have three little girls who need me constantly. I’m grateful beyond words, but that doesnt mean I’m never exhausted, emotional, overwhelmed or just ready to sit down and cry for a minute.

Sometimes I think moms feel like we’re not allowed to admit that part because we waited so long for this. But you can be incredibly grateful and still be struggling. Both things can be true.

So my reminder isnt really about pumping or feeding this time. It’s just this: check on your mama friends. Ask ā€œhow are YOU really doing?ā€ And if you’re the mama who needs help, please say it. You dont have to carry everything quietly just because you love your babies.
