Things I Wish I Knew as a First-Time Mom šŸ¤

No one really prepares you for postpartum after a C-section. Healing takes time, and if you’re breastfeeding or pumping too, your body is doing even more work. Give yourself grace—recovery isn’t a race.

One thing that surprised me? Once the baby arrives, it can feel like everyone wants to see the baby. Friends you haven’t heard from in months and extended family you barely talk to suddenly pop back into your life. It’s okay to set boundaries and protect your peace.

The world also feels completely different. Strangers will try to peek into the stroller or stop to see your baby. Even something as simple as changing a diaper in public can become stressful. Those open changing stations? Definitely not my favorite.

The newborn stage is beautiful, but it’s also hard. It takes time to find a routine, and it’s okay if you don’t have it figured out right away. One of the best things you can do is accept help and take a break with someone you trust. You deserve to recharge too.

If you’re breastfeeding or pumping, consistency is tough in the beginning. Keep going. Supply naturally fluctuates, and stress can make those dips feel even bigger. Try to stay calm, make small adjustments, and remember that every feeding journey looks different.

One thing that’s really helped me is the 30-30-30 method, especially during those 3 a.m. feeds when milk production tends to be highest. I also challenged myself to freeze just one bag of milk a day, even when I was only making just enough. That small habit gave me a backup stash, and it made a huge difference during cluster feeding when it felt impossible to keep up.

To every new mom: trust yourself. You’re learning your baby, your baby is learning you, and both of you are doing an amazing job. One day at a time. :white_heart:

I’ve done the 30-30-30 method and it actually works SUPER WELL!!! I was shocked !

Beautiful statement and photo!! Yes recovery from c section is tough!! I remember trying to walk to the bathroom and I almost didn’t make it. So much for our bodies to handle postpartum!

I can’t stand the open diaper change tables in the restrooms either. Like why do people think this is an open invitation to come stare at my baby? I’m changing her diaper for goodness sake! Give us some privacy! I love when they have a changing table in the handicapped stall

Thank you for sharing these tips and encouragement they’re such a great reminder that healing isn’t linear and that every mom’s journey is different

One day at a time is great advice, some days I feel like I get way too ahead of myself!

I had a cover on my baby carrier and a sign that said your germs are too big for me and someone still walked over and tried to peek in the cover :woman_facepalming:t2:

I can really relate to the part that you said setting boundaries because I’m also the same way I kept my pregnancy private.

I knew that not everyone had the right intentions. That’s what help me have a very peaceful pregnancy with my loved ones that I know really cared about me.

Beautiful baby and everything you said is 100 percent true. I lost a lot of friends. And also realize nobody checks up on me it’s all about the babies

Very great tips and beautiful baby girl, thank you for sharing.:white_heart: I’ve already told myself I don’t want visitors once my baby get here and just want to enjoy him until I’m ready.

She is absolutely so precious!!

yesss!! Like everyone wants to be around for the baby but not check up on the mom.

Cluster pumping helped me the most but I love a good 30-30-30 session!
