I’ve wanted to post and comment lately, but honestly, it’s been really hard. I was hoping to participate more in the activities here, but I just haven’t had the emotional energy. Even so, reading all of your posts has helped keep my mind occupied and given me a small break from everything that’s been happening in my life.
The last couple of weeks have been some of the hardest I’ve ever experienced. I lost my grandma, and then my mom ended up in the hospital. The emotional weight of everything has been overwhelming.
Because of all the stress, my milk supply has dropped, and I think my breastfeeding journey is coming to an end. My heart is broken because this isn’t how I imagined it would end.
I’m trying to remind myself that I gave my baby everything I could for as long as I could, and that love isn’t measured in ounces or months. But if I’m honest, it’s still incredibly hard to let go.
To any mom whose breastfeeding journey ended sooner than you hoped because of circumstances beyond your control, how did you cope? How did you find peace with it?
Ohhhh myyy I send my deepest condolences your way. And wrap warm long hugs around you in these times that you’re going through. Don’t get discouraged love it’s a vulnerable time for you being that your supply is low. I know it’s hard but try to give yourself a lil grace, I’m praying your supply boost back up sooner than later. I heard stress do causes that and it’s easier said than done. I will put extra prayers in for you tonight, I know it must have been so hard to share this but I hope it brought you some sort of release in some way I know not fully but even a piece. I’m here, we’re here, the community is here, you are not alone!
Oh mama this is so much, I want to wrap you in a cozy blanket and give you a hug it’s so understandable that this would happen and I hope you feel no blame or shame on yourself! I wish I had better adbit just know you did amazing you fed that baby your milk for so long and every drop counted you did great and you are an amazing mother
I am so sorry to hear about the loss and my deepest condolences
It is bittersweet to almost be done with my breastmilk production journey, but I see it as a way for me to be proud of all to be proud of all the things I’ve done so far. My production has been pretty low lately, so I have been also given formula which at first made me feel bad but then the more I thought about it the most important thing is that my baby is getting fed.
I hope things get better for you and please feel free to reach out if you need someone to talk to. We’re all here to support.
I am so so sorry for your loss and I pray your mom makes a full recovery! I wish I could give you a hug!
If you feel like pumping/ nursing is too much for you to handle with everything going on, that is okay! You have to take care of you first! Give yourself grace mama, you are going through a lot right now.
I’m so incredibly sorry for everything you’ve been carrying. Losing your grandma, worrying about your mom, and then dealing with the emotional weight of your milk supply changing is so much for one person to hold.
Please be gentle with yourself. Your breastfeeding journey ending differently than you imagined doesn’t take away from everything you gave your baby. You gave love, comfort, nourishment, closeness, and so much of yourself, and that doesn’t disappear when breastfeeding does.
Thank you so much, mama Your words truly mean more to me than you know. It has definitely been such an emotional and difficult couple of weeks, and I think I needed to hear that it’s okay to give myself some grace. I’m trying my best to take it one day at a time and not put so much pressure on myself. Thank you for the prayers, the hugs, and for reminding me that I’m not alone. This community has been such a beautiful source of support, and I’m so grateful for women like you who take the time to reach out
Thank you so much, mama Your words truly brought tears to my eyes. I’ve definitely been feeling emotional and blaming myself a little, so hearing that I did enough and that every drop counted means more than you know. I’m trying to remind myself that my body has carried me through so much, and I’m grateful for every moment I was able to nourish my baby with my milk. Thank you for reminding me that I’m still a good mama no matter how our feeding journey ends
Thank you so much, mama And I’m so sorry you’re going through something similar with your milk production. It really is such a bittersweet feeling to know this chapter is coming to an end. I love what you said about being proud of everything you’ve done thats something I’m trying to remind myself of too. And you’re absolutely right, the most important thing is that our babies are fed, loved, and cared for Thank you for your kind words and for reminding me that I’m not alone in this
Thank you so much, mama Your kind words and prayers truly mean so much to me. It has definitely been a lot to process all at once, and I’m trying to remind myself that it’s okay to slow down and give myself grace. Breastfeeding has meant so much to me, but I also know I need to take care of myself too. Thank you for reminding me that it’s okay to put my well being first and that I don’t have to feel guilty about it
Thank you so much, mama It has truly been so much to carry emotionally, and some days I feel like I’m just trying to get through one moment at a time. I’ve been struggling with the thought of my breastfeeding journey ending, but you’re right how it ends doesn’t erase everything I was able to give my baby. Every nursing session, every bottle of breastmilk, every drop, every moment of comfort and closeness mattered I’m going to try to be gentler with myself and remember that I did the best I could with everything I was going through. Thank you for reminding me of that
Yes, I think as moms we often forget that there’s people around us that can support us so I sincerely mean please reach out if you need anyone to talk to
Oh mama I’m so sorry you’re having to carry all of this at once. Losing your grandma and then having your mom in the hospital is ALOT, and then having breastfeeding change on top of it has to feel like another loss. Please dont be too hard on yourself. Your body has been going thru so much emotionally, and you have still been showing up for your baby every single day.
And I really love what you said about love not being measured in ounces or months. That baby has felt your love in SO many ways that have nothing to do with how much milk you were able to make. I know that doesnt magically make letting go easier tho. Give yourself permission to be sad about it. You dont have to rush to be “okay” with it. Sending you sooo much love mama, I hope things get a little lighter for you soon
