Everyday life as a mom

Everyday life for me since becoming a mom has been an experience. Never did I think I could love someone so much. I’ve learned things about myself I wouldn’t have ordinarily learned without my children. I’m thankful for the joy, chaos, love, laughter, and happiness they bring.

Becoming a new mom has been both a blessing and a challenge. I’ve always loved children and dreamed of having my own someday. As an Early Head Start teacher, I imagined what my life would look like once I became pregnant — it felt like my fairytale was finally coming true, and I was so excited for that journey.

But reality didn’t turn out the way I imagined. I chose a partner who wasn’t supportive, and that made what I thought would be my happiest chapter feel much heavier than I expected.

When my son was born on February 22, 2026, hearing him cry after my C-section was the most beautiful moment. At the same time, the circumstances around me made me realize that I would be raising him on my own. Right after he was born, he had to be rushed to the NICU, and I didn’t get to see him again until the next day. That whole experience made everything feel surreal, like none of it was real yet.

When we finally brought him home, the exhaustion and anxiety of being a new mom started to set in. But every time I look into his eyes, I’m reminded that all of this will be worth it. I love him so much, and becoming his mother is the most special thing that has ever happened to me.
