Just another voice in the chorus encouraging every parent to get the bottle washer.
At our first lactation consultant appointment when my baby was just a week old I was encouraged to start a routine of a daily pump and bottle feed to help with the pediatrician’s concerns over her low weight gain. I thought sure, no problem! I planned to pump when I returned to work, this would give me the opportunity to get used to it in the calmer environment of my home while also getting my baby used to bottles earlier.
Then I went to actually clean all of the pump parts and bottles…
It was so time consuming, especially with a newborn demanding so much of my attention. And the stress of making sure they were cleaned properly and had a dedicated space to dry and be stored. I was absolutely consumed by worry my newly cleaned parts were being contaminated by our dinner and our dirty dishes. Pumping became my biggest stressor and really took me away from important moments with my newborn.
Even with the stress weighing on me I debated with myself for far too long deciding if the bottle washer was really worth the investment. So I am here to tell everyone I know having a baby or already on their breastfeeding and pumping journey it is absolutely worth it. If you only buy one gadget this is the one that will truly make your life easier.
So my tip to add to the list is go for it, get the bottle washer! Register for it on your baby registry, add it to any wishlist you can. The bottle washer is not just a gadget, it’s more time with your baby and less time doing dishes, it’s peace of mind knowing your bottles and pump parts are clean and safe, it’s one less things to stress about. It is absolutely worth it.
