Motherhood expands my life by showing me that even after the deepest heartbreak, love can still find a way to grow…and that sometimes the most beautiful chapters begin very differently from the way we imagined.
For two years, our journey to become parents was filled with infertility, uncertainty, countless appointments, endless waiting, more injections than I care to count, and the quiet ache of wondering whether the family we dreamed about would ever become our reality. We experienced the devastating loss of a pregnancy we already loved so deeply, and for a time, it felt as though our dream kept moving further out of reach.
Then IVF gave us hope again, and ultimately, the greatest blessing of our lives.
Even after becoming pregnant, the journey wasn’t easy. My pregnancy brought challenge after challenge, along with the complicated emotions that come with carrying new life after loss. Every milestone brought incredible joy, but also fear. I spent months loving and protecting our baby while trying to trust that this time, our story might have a different ending.
When it was finally time to meet her, a grueling 62-hour labor pushed me beyond limits I didn’t even know existed. Apparently, after making us wait two years for her, Savannah also wanted to make a very memorable entrance! There were moments during labor when I truly questioned how much more my body and heart could endure.
But then they placed our beautiful rainbow baby girl in my arms.
In that moment, every injection, every appointment, every tear, every fear, and every exhausting hour of labor led to her. The journey to meeting our miracle baby - and the very second we finally did - transformed the way I think about dreams, goals, and the future.
Motherhood has taught me that life may unfold very differently from the way we once imagined, but a different path does not make the destination any less beautiful. Sometimes it makes you appreciate the destination even more.
Now, motherhood looks like sleepy snuggles, tiny smiles, late-night feedings, endless diaper changes, and learning to accomplish nearly everything with one hand. It is beautiful, exhausting, messy, humbling, and occasionally covered in spit-up, but it is more rewarding than I ever could have imagined.
Savannah is our miracle, our rainbow after the storm, and the most wonderful reminder that even when the road is longer, harder, and more heartbreaking than expected, beautiful things can still find their way to us when we continue fighting for our dreams and refuse to give up hope.
Motherhood has stretched my heart, strengthened my spirit, and revealed parts of myself I never knew existed. Most of all, it has expanded my life by giving me the privilege of watching the dream we fought so hard for grow right before my eyes. I have the unbelievable honor of raising this beautiful girl and will spend every day of the rest of my life reminding her how hoped for, prayed for and loved beyond words she is!
