my breastfeeding-pumping Journey as a Milk Donor.
one thing i never imagined when i started my breastfeeding journey was that i would eventually be able to help other babies too.
i had an oversupply and was pumping constantly, and at one point i simply didn’t have enough space to store all the milk i was producing. instead of letting it go to waste, i decided to donate it.
and honestly, it became so much more than just having extra milk.
i was able to donate thousands of ounces and help so many families and babies that i may never meet. knowing that a little piece of me and what my baby was able to share could help another baby through a difficult moment is something i will always be grateful for.
the milk bank made the whole process so easy and supportive, from sending the boxes and milk bags to helping with everything i needed along the way. the entire experience was so beautiful.
breastfeeding and pumping can be HARD. the long hours, the constant pumping, the exhaustion… but knowing that something i was already doing could become a gift for another baby made it all feel so meaningful.
i’m so proud of what i was able to accomplish, and i’ll always carry this experience with me. our bodies are truly amazing.
and if i’m lucky enough to have another baby someday and i find myself with an oversupply again, i would absolutely do it all over again. being able to share something my body is already creating and knowing it can help another baby is such an incredible honor and one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
so grateful for this chapter, for my baby, and for every family who allowed a little piece of our journey to become part of theirs. ![]()
