This may not pertain to some but I know I’m not alone
I wish someone had told me that it’s okay to be a single parent household.
For so long, I believed that the only “complete” family was a two parent family. I stayed in a relationship that wasn’t healthy because I thought my children needed both parents under one roof, no matter the cost.
Looking back, I realize my kids didn’t need to see me sacrificing my peace, happiness, and self-worth just to fit the picture of a “perfect family.” They needed a mom who felt safe, loved, respected, and emotionally present.
A peaceful home with one loving parent is far healthier than a home filled with tension, unhappiness, or constant conflict.
I wish I had known that leaving wasn’t failing my children, it was choosing a healthier future for all of us. Families don’t have to look the same to be whole. Love, stability, and showing up every day matter so much more than the number of parents in the home.
If you’re holding on only because you’re afraid your children need a two parent household, I hope you know : A healthy parent is one of the greatest gifts you can give your children.
Sometimes the perfect family is just a mom and her kids
I love this sentiment! This is a beautiful reminder that not every family looks like what is portrayed in the media and socials - most don’t! And absolutely a mom’s peace and security is the most important.
A peaceful home with one loving parent is far healthier than a home filled with tension. This is so incredibly true. Thank you for sharing your heart and reminding so many that love and stability are what make a family whole, not a headcount.
Absolutely, I wish it didn’t take me as long as it did but if it didn’t I wouldn’t have all my kiddos, things work out in strange ways, even if we don’t understand why
So proud of you for taking the steps to have a happier healthier life for you and your kids I know it wasn’t easy. You are a strong momma it takes a lot to Do it on your own.
This is so well said!! So many women stay in a bad relationship for the sake of their children, and don’t realize that it’s causing more harm than good. The kids grow up thinking it’s okay to treat people like they see their dad doing, or they end up in bad relationships themselves one day because they think it’s acceptable to be treated that way. You are so strong for making the right choice and getting out!
Yes I didnt even realize my kids were starting to notice until my daughter told my mom “my dad makes my mom cry a lot” ugh that broke my heart. So glad we are in such a better place now
