Prior to a move my husband and I tried to utilize space in our one bedroom as best as we could. Our nursery was small and a little bit tight underneath our bedroom loft, but it worked perfect for what we needed. I’m grateful for the spacing when I was eary post partum. Having a cozy chair made my recovery much easier. Putting it right next to the crib also helped in the newborn phase of nursing and cluster feeds. I can’t count how many times I slept in my cozy green chair instead of going to my bed so I wouldn’t miss a cry. Keeping everything so close together helped tremendously. My husband had to go out of state for work for several days while our son was still a newborn. Keeping everything close really worked in my favor, as feedings and diaper changes were often daisy chained together. Sometimes I miss my son’s old nursery, but having room to grow is what he needs and what I’m grateful we have now.
This is such a cute set up!!
Thank you! ![]()
That is a great set up. ![]()
I really like how you have the chair next to the crib and to the changing table for easy access and then the decor is really cute. I especially like that rug in the middle.
Awh I love this set up! A comfy chair is amazing!
Oh this place looks so NIIICCEEE
Thank you so much! It had a really nice flow to it and we did a lot of tummy time on the rug. We definitely put swaddle blankets down for extra cushioning. It made a huge difference since I have a winter baby and the hardwood floor was super cold barefoot.
Thank you! Whoever has the baby gets the comfy chair now. It’s like an unspoken rule between my husband and I when we’re in our living room.
The building itself is gorgeous! And my husband put together all the nursery furniture. I miss it sometimes. I don’t regret moving though. No more HOA or being downtown in a city next to bars. It’s a lot more peaceful and easy to get the little one to sleep. ![]()
I love this! I have a similar setup because we are staying with my mother-in-law, so I only have the one bedroom. There’s so much furniture in our bedroom that you can’t even see the wall lol. I have a similar chair too and did the same thing. Having a comfy chair like that makes such a big difference! And my husband also had to work out of state for a couple months when my daughter was only two weeks old. I remember those days so well![]()
You’re so strong. I get super stressed when my husband is at job sites, the work scares me. He’s usually able to be back after a few days or a week. A couple months sounds crazy! I’m glad you have a village to help support you and your little one. A large part of our move was to be closer to family. I would honestly love to live with my in laws.
His family helps us so much and they loooove seeing the baby. They were making the 45 minute drive at least once a week or more to see us and help out before the move. Now they’re able to come over almost anytime we need help and is a lot less planning beforehand.
Aww thank you!
Luckily it was just a one time thing where he had to go out of town like that. He changed jobs shortly after so he could be home more. You are the strong one with your husband leaving for a few days at a time regularly! It has been nice to stay with my mother-in-law. We have a pretty sweet deal worked out where we care for her and the house (she’s elderly and want me to avoid the nursing home) and she allows us to live with her rent free. It is definitely nice to have family nearby. I just wish I had someone to watch my daughter sometimes. Then again, I have a hard time trusting anyone with her still
Such a cute set up!
I’m happy he gets to be around more! And thank you. I know what you’re going through with the elderly parents and trust. My dad went to a nursing home this year largely because of his Alzheimer’s and I don’t trust him holding the baby by himself now that my little one squirms and tries to stand up so much! And my mom is also elderly. I worry she might have her own medical emergency, so I avoid leaving my baby with her unsupervised. Your MIL is family, but I respect the heck out of you for taking care of her and the house! Elderly care is not for the weak.

Thank you, you’re so sweet. Yeah, it’s hard because you want to trust them with your child, but you can’t. And it’s so hard when you have to explain that she isn’t allowed to be around our daughter unsupervised. She offers to watch my daughter all the time, but we have to explain to her that she can’t move fast enough, pick her up, keep her eyes open long enough, and that she can’t hear her well enough if she was choking or something(shes partly deaf).
Oh noooo that’s so scary! The way I drew the line with my mom when she offered to babysit was telling her, if she had a heart attack or stroke, the baby can’t break her fall or call 911. (She has a heart condition) She never tried to impose or overstep my boundary afterwards and I’m grateful. Reality can be harsh, but it’s necessary when you’re focused on the safety of your family.
Such a beautiful space to remember those newborn nights!
It really was. I didn’t leave the first month after I had my son.
That is so true! The chance of a fall is so real these days unfortunately. That’s great she’s respecting your boundary
