As an overproducer 2x now, I’ve learned a pocket full of hacks/tips/tricks. Let me share a few with y’all.
Clogged milk ducts:
•Epsom salt baths with water as hot as you can handle, and some essential oils like peppermint, eucalyptus, lavender, and lemongrass..it works wonders.
•Heat massagers can also help. And rest. Rest is key!
•But my number one remedy for clogged ducts now has been wish gardens happy duct herbal supplement. It takes about 24 hours to kick in but after that it worked immediately.
Milk blebs: I’ve had about 7+ milk blebs in just 3 months of pumping for my youngest. One I was able to get out just by rubbing it away. I thought that would work every time. It didn’t. Some I had to wait out but that got painful. I was able to dry one up by using salt water followed by a little bit of avocado oil. That only worked one time. My best hack for milk blend is….. a 2:1 ratio of white vinegar and water on a cotton pad for about an hour or so followed by olive/avocado oil for an hour. The vinegar mix may feel like it’s burning, that just means it’s working! Make sure to wipe away the oil with a warm washcloth before pumping/nursing. This has worked at least 4 times for me. I had to use it one night and woke up with much relief. The bleb cleared and my nursing pad was so full of milk it wasn’t even flat anymore!
Hopefully this helps at least one person. I know how painful it all can be. I just wanna be able to try to help anyone who needs some tips or advice they can’t seem to find on the internet!

I love all of this so much I took a screenshot but quick question
What can I supplement avocado oil for?? I’m insanely allergic
You can use any kind of oil. I just use avocado cause it’s what we had. You can use olive oil, grape seed oil, coconut oil, any oil of choice. If you use coconut just melt it first and soak it on a cotton pad…it’s just not the first choice since it turns to an almost solid state when cold.
Oh, and make sure to wipe away the oil with a warm washcloth before nursing/pumping.
Highly recommend use ice and sunflower lecithin instead! By the next time I pump I feel so much relief from clogged ducts, I too am a major oversupplier
Ice can be helpful, however if used long term it tells your body to make less milk. I do use ice occasionally when I’m really hurting but I try not to use it long term. I do plan to use that to decrease my supply when the time comes though.
And sunflower lecithin doesn’t work for every pumping journey. It worked wonders for me with my last journey. This time anytime I use it, I get a clog guaranteed. I’ve stopped using it and I don’t get near as many clogs. I was surprised that it caused them. It’s an emulsifier so it mixes the fats in and helps it flow better but if there’s inflammation in the tube the milk flows out of you’ll still get a clog. Sunflower lecithin also messes with your gut microbiomes which can cause inflammation, and that doesn’t stay in one place it causes inflammation all over the body, including the breast. It worked great when I was pumping for my middle child, my milk was also 10x fattier then. It just hasn’t worked for me this time, it’s cause more clogs, sadly.
