[How to Stay Cozy in Pregnancy]How can I stay physically warm, but not hot during pregnancy?

By Rachel Johnson, CNM, ARNP, CLC
1.What kinds of layers work best?
Soft, breathable layers like cotton, bamboo, or modal help regulate temperature without overheating, especially undergarments (bras & undies). Many pregnant people find that light layers are easier to adjust as body temperature fluctuates.
2.Are heated blankets or pads safe?
Warmth is usually fine in small amounts, but it’s important to avoid anything that raises core body temperature too much. A warm (not hot) heating pad on the back or hips can be soothing, but always follow safety guidelines and avoid placing heat directly on the abdomen.
3.What about warm baths?
A warm bath can be incredibly relaxing. Just keep the water at a comfortable temperature and avoid hot tubs that can raise body temperature.
4.Do compression socks help?
Yes — they can supporting circulation, which may help with swelling or leg fatigue.
5.Is it normal to feel hot and cold more easily?
Absolutely. Hormonal shifts can make temperature regulation unpredictable. Adjusting layers and keeping cozy items nearby can help you adapt throughout the day.
