Living In The Moment

One thing motherhood has changed about me is that it has given me selflessness. Girl, I had no idea how selfish I was before I had my daughter! I actually viewed myself as the least selfish person out of everybody I had ever met. Boy did motherhood surprise me there! I knew I was a perfectionist and I guess that’s why I thought I was perfect lol. Not that I was a snob or anything, I just felt like I had everything figured out, and I was special for seeing things in ways others could not. Turns out I wasn’t living in the moment, and constantly thinking about the future and what ifs. Which it’s good to think about the future sometimes. But when you rarely live in the moment, life just kind of passes you by and you miss out on so much. I was too worried about what might happen and what others might think.

Well fast forward to today, and I still have my what ifs….but it’s from a safety perspective because half of being a parent is keeping your kid alive :joy:. But I am definitely living way more in the moment and truly enjoying myself as I teach my daughter and she develops her own little personality…and my personality develops more too because I’m not so worried about what other people think and being “perfect”. Perfect doesn’t matter anymore. It’s all about being there for my daughter. It’s truly amazing how having a baby has made me grow as a person and showed me how to live in the moment

Being a mother truly does make you sacrifice and practice selflessness. It can be extremely difficult sometimes!

Especially running on so little sleep all the time! I swear the day my daughter starts sleeping through the night, I’m going to sleep for like a week straight :joy:. She will be 2 years old in January and still has the overnight sleeping habits of a newborn. It does make me appreciate that she wants to be close to me though. I know it won’t always be like this, and I will miss the days of her needing me so often

Oh my goodness I feel for ya mama. That’s gotta be so hard :weary_face:how wonderful though that she knows you’re always there for her in the night when she needs you :two_hearts: you’re right - it won’t be this way forever! I do hope you can get some good rest soon.

You’re so sweet! Thank you! I’ve pretty much just accepted it at this point. It’s crazy how I have gotten used to this and can still function…most days anyway lol

It’s been such a blessing to live in the moment like this. She helps me to notice all the good things in life that I might have missed otherwise

It was definitely not what I was expecting going into motherhood, but I am so grateful for the joy my daughter has brought into my life
