What I wish I knew before becoming a mom is that motherhood is beautiful, but it can also be incredibly challenging in ways you never expect.
After welcoming my baby girl, I experienced the emotional and physical struggles of the newborn stage. Breastfeeding was a journey of love, patience, and learning, but it also came with unexpected challenges. I went through mastitis, fever, and intense body pain, and there were moments when I felt exhausted and unsure if I could keep going.
But in those difficult moments, I learned how strong a mother’s love can be. Even when I was tired, hurting, and overwhelmed, I still showed up for my baby. Every feeding, every cuddle, and every little smile reminded me why I kept going.
I wish I had known that it’s okay to ask for help, to rest, and to take care of myself too. A mother’s healing matters just as much as her baby’s happiness.
To all new moms: your journey doesn’t have to be perfect. Give yourself grace, trust yourself, and remember that you are doing an incredible job.
So many moms need to hear that it’s okay for motherhood to be both beautiful and incredibly hard at the same time. Breastfeeding isn’t always the easy, natural journey people expect, and going through mastitis while caring for a newborn is no small thing. You should be so proud of yourself for pushing through those challenges. Your baby is so lucky to have a mom who showed up with so much love, even on the hardest days. Sending you so much love you are stronger than you know
Hi! Welcome to the Momcozy community! We’re happy to have you here!
It is so true that a lot of us mamas feel like we have to take on everything alone. It’s so hard to ask for help. It’s so hard sometimes doing everything that needs to be done caring for a baby while exhausted and in pain. The things we do for our babies is truly amazing. Motherhood really does make us stronger! I’m sorry you went through mastisis
Welcome to the Momcozy community! This post perfectly articulates becoming a mom, experiencing such fervent love, surviving those newborn trenches, and the newfound strength to keep going!
The newborn stage was also very challenging for me as well, but it does get a little bit easier. I remember when I almost got mastitis and the fever was scary since I rarely get sick.
