As a mom of a newborn and a toddler, one thing I’ve learned is to never let our firstborn feel like they’ve been replaced just because there’s a new baby.
They’re still our baby too. They’re trying to understand why suddenly so much of our attention goes to their little sibling, and sometimes they don’t know how to express those feelings.
So include them. Let them help with a diaper change, bring you a nappy, choose the baby’s clothes, or simply sit beside you while you care for the newborn. Most importantly, remind them that they are still just as loved, just as important, and just as much our baby as before.
The newborn stage is beautiful, but our firstborn is going through a big transition too. They need our love and reassurance now more than ever.
To all mamas of two: while caring for the new baby, let’s make sure our first baby never feels forgotten.

This is huge! My oldest took to being a big brother so well. We included him and his little brother even gave him a present. Now 15 months later the youngest gets jealous of my oldest cuddling me.
We do this with our older kids and it makes a huge difference! We also got them a present for the baby to give them when they came to the hospital to meet her
