Meeting big brother

Postpartum is hard. You just had a baby and you are adjusting, healing and are responsible for a new tiny baby. It’s scary and yet exciting with so much love

If it’s your second baby, what we did that really helped was, our baby bought his big brother a gift to give him when they met for the first time. It wasn’t anything big but it did help with jealousy and provided a good distraction while we were taking care of our newborn. And adjusting to having 2 to take care of.

I didn’t realize it’s only one tip per post so I’ll slowly be doing them. I apparently got too excited :joy:

I’m definitely nervous about adding a second baby to the dynamics. Gift is for sure on the list!

Aw I love this :brown_heart: great advice for all mommies welcoming another baby into this world. We did something similar. When we introduced our second we held our first while he brought him a dinosaur plushy as our second was laying in his incubator.

I was worried about my firstborn, how he will react with the baby. We tried to do same and asked his help sometimes in bringing a diaper/dress.

Awe that’s adorable. Yes I made sure I wasn’t holding our newborn and gave my oldest all the attention. It worked pretty good now he wants 10 more :joy:

That’s adorable. My oldest would help too. It’s so nerve racking navigating it. Thankfully they love each other so much

Yes I was so stressed out about introducing them and how they interacted. I only stayed in the hospital for 22 hours just to get home! My husband picked up our oldest to meet his brother and to bring us home. He was very much it was his baby no one else’s :joy:

That’s so adorable!! It’s funny that exactly how one of my dogs acted when we brought our baby home - started calling him Daddy Dexter :rofl: I hope it’s that sweet between the human siblings when that time comes!

That is such a sweet idea! I’ll have to do that if we have another one. I can only imagine the sibling jealousy of a new baby

Awe that’s so adorable! My dog absolutely loves our babies. We went to a trainer to learn how to properly introduce him to our baby. Thank goodness he never had any issues

Thankfully the jealousy is just starting now at 14 months. They are competing for our attention now. Mostly who gets more kisses or cuddles  it’s never a dull moment.

That’s such a great idea! We have 4 dogs and they all acted differently. Fortunately, none of them showed us any concern but we still have to closely watch as he gets bigger and their interactions change.
