What age did you start swim lessons with your kid(s)? I’m thinking about starting actual lessons in the fall for my now 16 month old. We do some kicking with a life jacket but I think some structured social swimming time could do us some good!
My son’s gram started him at 2yrs old! She has a pool in her backyard and I felt like it was necessary if she was going to be having him there
My son is 5 years old and he still doesn’t know how to swim but he loves the water whenever we’re around. I really need to get him and my other two swimming lessons…
We started last summer with my 6 year old
We are starting them now he’s almost 9 months they call it the tadpoles swimming lessons
We started at 6 months but our lessons didn’t help much then
I want to start my youngest as soon as I can. Shes only 3 months but I want her used to the water. My 10 year old struggles and I never did lessons for him. Really regret that, and I plan on signing him up as well.
I was wondering about starting at that age but our local aquatic center has infant/toddler swim lessons for 6 months-3 years and that seems so broad for doing the same skills. I’m still wondering if I should wait or if around 18-19 months will be good ![]()
That’s a great idea to do swim lessons! I wonder if they have to be at an age where they can easily follow instructions or if you just move them around in the water with other mamas and their babies?
At our local aquatic center, the youngest class is 6 months- 3 years, with 8 children, where you mostly hold your child, and do some instructor to parent push offs. The first class series here seems to just focus on getting used to the water/pool, jumping in, going under briefly, floating, gliding, moving their legs, and rolling. So not exactly learning to swim but steps towards it I guess!
I didn’t know that! That’s pretty cool. That would be such a good way to get them ready for swimming!
