Breastfeeding challenges

With my first, breastfeeding was hard because of the pain, the time, and the constant cluster feeding for months (we later discovered she had FPIES).

With my second, it’s completely different. The pain is mostly gone, but pumping is its own struggle. My back hurts, I dread my morning pump, and the output is a total rollercoaster—4 oz one day, 2 oz the next, then 9 oz.

And the weight gain has been hard too. I can’t really focus on changing it without risking my supply. I just keep reminding myself: my body can wait… even when that’s easier said than done.

My advice: every breastfeeding journey is different—even with your own kids. Don’t compare, don’t panic over daily output changes, and give yourself grace. Your body is doing a lot.
