From Tears to Triumph: My Breastfeeding Journey 🤍

I wanted to share my breastfeeding journey because I know how discouraging it can feel when things don’t go the way you imagined.

When I was in the hospital, I struggled so much to get my daughter to latch and feed directly from the breast. On top of that, it was incredibly painful. Every attempt left me sore, frustrated, and wondering if I was doing something wrong. As a first-time mom, I had no idea if she was actually getting enough milk, and I kept telling myself that she probably was.

The first night we brought her home, everything changed. She cried nonstop and hadn’t had a bowel movement. Around 3:00 a.m., we called the nurse because we didn’t know what to do. She suggested giving her formula because she might not be getting enough to eat.

That night, we gave her formula. I’ll be honest… I felt so discouraged. I had dreamed of providing breast milk for my baby, and in that moment, I felt like I had already failed.

But my husband looked at me and said, “We’re not giving up. Let’s try using your Momcozy pumps.”

The next day, I opened my pumps and realized…I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. No one in my family had ever exclusively pumped or even really used breast pumps, so I was completely on my own. I watched videos, read tips, made mistakes, and slowly taught myself how to pump.

Little by little, everything started to click.

My daughter went from needing formula that first night to drinking only breast milk. What once felt impossible became our new normal.

Now, we’re almost one full year into my exclusive pumping journey, and I can honestly say it has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. It hasn’t always been easy, but for me, every pumping session has been worth it.

I wanted to share this for any mom who is struggling with nursing and feels discouraged. Breastfeeding doesn’t always look the way we picture it. Sometimes feeding directly from the breast works, and sometimes pumping becomes the journey instead. Neither path makes you any less of a mom.

If you’re in those early days wondering if you can do it, don’t lose hope. Your journey may look different than you expected, and that’s okay.

Has anyone else started out planning to nurse but ended up exclusively pumping? I’d love to hear your story and what helped you along the way.

Thank you so much it was hard at the beginning, but I knew that it was worth it because breast milk is better for her

I agree a hat and book will be useful, but I think it really pro you for breast-feeding because so many different things can happen. Thank you so much for your support. :raising_hands:

No it is not. If it was, we’d all do it!!:heart:

I’m glad you figured out what works for you!!

I basically started exclusively pumping while still always comfort nursing cause baby loves the boob but just couldn’t get enough. We finally got to a point where I pump 6x a day but take a break and only nurse from 4-9pm. He’s 5 months right now and it’s been a hard journey!

Amazing! I love your dedication and determination! It’s always so hard when you first are learning about breastfeeding. Everything is so new!
