I wish I had known that being a single mom wasn’t going to be the hardest part. I already knew I would be raising my daughters alone after making the difficult decision to leave my marriage because of domestic violence. What I didn’t know was that I would truly be alone.
My mom passed away just two weeks after I found out I was pregnant. She was my rock and supported me with all 12 pregnancy losses. She wanted to be a grandmother so bad and I know she would have done anything for me and my girls. Her absence is devastating, especially being newly postpartum.
After my girls were born, not one family member came to help. Not one friend stopped by or even called to check on me. I had no visitors while I was in the hospital recovering from my C-section. I kept waiting for someone to show up, and eventually I realized no one was coming.
That realization broke my heart for a while. The newborn stage with three babies has been exhausting, lonely, and overwhelming. Every feeding, diaper change, late-night wake-up, bottle washing, and tear has been on my shoulders. Some days I question how I make it through, but somehow I always do. My girls are my reason to keep going.
Looking back, I realize this journey has changed me in ways I never expected. It has made me stronger, more confident, and more resilient than I ever thought possible. My daughters only know my love, my voice, and my arms, and the bond we’ve built because we’ve been through everything together. It’s something I wouldn’t trade for anything.
To everyone in the Momcozy Community, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You may not realize it, but you’ve become the village I thought I would never have. Your kindness, encouragement, and support have reminded me that family isn’t always the people you’re related to. Sometimes it’s the people who choose to stand beside you. Thank you for helping me feel seen, heard, and never truly alone. ![]()
