Breastfeeding can feel daunting but it is extremely rewarding as well. Having the right tools helps this feel like less of a chore. I swear by earth mama nipple butter. It’s great for sensitive skin areas like lips and of course your breasts. I use this in my flange /flange inserts. I feel it helps baby latch easier as well due to the bees wax greasy texture. Yes! Lubricating flanges/inserts makes such a huge difference for friction and overall comfort when pumping. 
Yes! I just recently read someone said you can use olive oil or coconut oil too. Pretty neat!

Your setup is the same as mine!!! I apply earth mama before every pump! My MIL actually is the one that gave it to me otherwise I’d never have known about it! But such great stuff! I’m going through it too fast!
