After my two pregnancies, I got to a place I was confident in. We were done having children, so we thought.
Getting used to the stretch marks, gaining weight, veins popping, boobs sagging even more, and all of the gross changes that just inevitably come along with it has been hard to wrap my mind around. Some women just seem to walk around glowing. Makeup and hair done, perky boobs. Comparison is the thief of joy but I still do it from time to time. I’ve been saying to myself, is this my body or the worlds? Who am I measuring this too? My husband is obsessed with me- can that be enough? Can I see myself in the way that I was created- despite all the changes since my mid 20s?
How do I accept what is and will be versus what used to be?
Can I accept that I may or may not “bounce back again”? Does it even matter? How will my body look this time?
I have come to realize so many women struggle with this and I guess I say all this to bring up, you are not alone. Even though in creating life, it shouldn’t be the focus, I’m human, and it is hard. However, I know that I want to rejoice what others look like and what I look like- no matter what age or stage of life they are in.
It’s more than being positive about your body, it’s about seeing the beauty in all of it. Every mark, every nick, every imperfection, every surgery, every untoned or perfectly toned body part.
We are beautifully, fearfully, and wonderfully made. Despite what children, surgeries, or abuse that has come along with this life has done to it.
Can we celebrate this together? ![]()
