One of the hardest parts of my breastfeeding journey wasn’t producing milk—it was learning how to keep going after returning to work as an ER nurse.
There were days I felt exhausted after 12-hour night shifts, only to come home and pump again before I could get some sleep. I questioned whether I could keep doing it.
What helped me was taking it one session at a time. My pumping routine, the support of my family, and reminding myself that every ounce was a gift to my baby gave me the strength to keep going.
Six months later, this is what consistency looks like—pumping through night shifts, long days, and tired moments, one ounce at a time.
Looking back, I’m grateful I didn’t give up. Staying consistent allowed me to continue nourishing my son and even share extra milk with other babies who needed it. ![]()
If you’re in the middle of your own journey, remember: you don’t have to do it perfectly. You just have to keep going.
