Spit Up Tip: Sometimes It’s Just Normal

My husband and I overthought and overanalyzed our baby’s spit up for months! Does he have acid reflux? Are we over feeding him? We had constant worry, google searches and even AI chats. Turns out, he’s just a happy spitter and sometimes that’s just normal for some babies. He literally spits up after every feed so now we just wait for it. He’s never in pain or discomfort, he’s always just smiling and then blehhhh!

Here’s baby boy starting to sit up! He’s 5.5 months old now.

I was convinced my son had a dairy allergy, or acid reflux for like 5 months because of the amount he spit up a day. Turns out, he just spits

Lots of spit up can’t be super scary and you’re right sometimes you can just have a happy spitter/spiller

Omg yes we have been down all those rabbit holes! I almost cut out dairy in my diet which honestly would have really impacted my milk supply because I get so much protein and calories from my dairy! I’m glad we did not act on it and waited it out! Hopefully this tip will help other mamas!

My son would do this sometimes and I saw like three doctors turns out I just had super strong let downs and he was eating a bit too much hahah oopsie

Yes! One of my babies is like this I kept asking his doctor about it and they called him as happy spitter as well! Mine also smiles afterward like “haha mom!”

I needed to read this because it stresses me out with my two month old and her pediatrician isn’t concerned because she’s gaining weight:heart_hands:t2:

I was worried for my daughter too, honestly I am still worried. Sometimes she spits up a lot. After every feeding she does this. Feeling good after reading your post. Thank you for sharing this.

My baby was a happy throw upper lol I thought he had severe acid reflux but all his tests kept coming back perfect. Babies are so crazy getting used to :joy:

It’s definitely scary to work through and there’s many things that can cause spit up, but we never knew that it could be perfectly fine and normal until around 4 months!

lol I use to stress about the spit up with my first now I’m just like it’s okay

Yes, this is such a great example! There are plenty of reasons for normal spit up but when you google it, it gives you all the bad, scary reasons!

What a cutie pie! Yeah, I thought the same thing when my daughter was younger. I think the spit up stage ended around 7 months old for us

It’s so funny cause he gets us every time! He’s just laughing and smiling then blehhhhhh back to laughing and smiling  my husband tries so hard to get it in the burp cloth but baby boy always get him

Hahahah yeah we have a lot of moments where we look at each other like whoops :grimacing:

Yes it can be completely normal! I would just pay attention to other signs of discomfort around the spit up to see if it’s connected.

Awh he’s so cute!

My baby is 7m and still spits up after every feed no matter how many times I burp her during a feed. Her dr said she is gaining weight perfectly so she’s intaking plenty which made me feel at ease.

Yeah it can be completely normal! Just pay attention to other sides of discomfort and don’t go solely based on spit up!

It’s something new everyday!
