Support Tips for Exclusive Pumping

Exclusive Pumping support Tips:

as a first time mom, I didn’t know what to expect when it came to pumping. The first time I pumped at home I barely expressed any milk but I didn’t realize that meant the clock started of needing to pump every 3 hours. I woke up in the middle of the night that first night super engorged & nauseous because I hadn’t pumped since that morning. I also didn’t know that I would leak daily until 3-4 months when my milk matured & wasn’t aware it was super crucial to establish a healthy routine before then of pumping. My next baby I will be more prepared & I will know what to expect but here are some tips to help not only establish your supply but also help increase if your supply tends to dip (from a just enougher perspective)

  • liquid IVs or other forms of electrolytes in water

  • Body Armors, Starbucks (Pink Drink) - the coconut water in these helped a ton!

  • Drinking as close to 1 gallon of water a day

  • Power pumping twice a day (once in the morning, once before bed (20 mins pump, 10 mins rest, 10 mins pump, 10 mins rest))

  • Ensuring I was pumping through the night

(8-10 times a day to encourage more production)

  • Focusing on protein heavy snacks

  • Gentle exercising (walking, getting outside clearing my head). I tend to stress quite a bit so being able to get outdoors & enjoying a change of scenery helps me feel at peace
