This is my second. My first was born almost 14 year ago. In every occasion I have felt the impacts of not working while on leave. While my husband is back at work and he helps a ton, there isn’t anything like having my own money. I like to pay for my own things and I feel like I need help getting back on track with budgeting. Going back to work this week feels exciting and overwhelming because I have to leave my baby. I wish there was help for moms to help ends meet while on leave. It is a huge a hit to our income when we aren’t paid at 100% of our income.

I know that must feel so bittersweet! Wanting to work and wanting to be with your baby is such an emotional time. And I know it’s definitely difficult surviving on one income vs two. I hope going back to work is a smooth transition for you and baby. Before you know it, you will get used to a new normal and things won’t be so bad. How nice your other child is 14!
