Tips - Pick the help over the stuff

One thing I learned in postpartum, especially since my partner could not be around after I delivered, is use the money you would otherwise use on the fancy or new stuff for post partum help instead. You can get plenty of used items on Marketplace and other sites, and it’s only after you get the hang of things that you really see what you need/don’t need. Rather than spending money on brand new onesies that they’ll grow out of in a couple of weeks, use the savings for your self care (meal prep service, at home pedicure if it’s in your area, a cleaner, etc). I also spent money on baby chiropractic and lactation support, which did a lot of my baby’s feeding abilities. Those things helped me much more than a bunch of furniture, toys and clothes. We have been just fine with a second hand bassinet, dresser, play gym, etc

Of course, some items are non-negotiable and you may not want to buy used (car seat, etc) but second hand works well for a lot of things!

Most of my things are secondhand/free and it’s great because if the baby doesn’t like it, I don’t feel bad. I got an electric swing for free. My baby didn’t like it at all. Great tip.
