Trying again with sidelying

One support tip I would add for moms building their feeding routine is to try and try again. The first time may not work especially with a new baby that is just learning everything. I had wishes to nurse while sidelying, because I had so much back pain, sitting up and feeling hunched over day after day. I am smaller chested and also did not get the milk filled boobs everyone talks about  it took us a good month to successfully work as a team to figure out the side lying nursing, but when we did it was such a blessing. It brought so much more comfort for me and gave us more time to rest when sleep was not coming easily.

I know what you mean! It took us awhile to figure out the side laying position too! It’s so hard figuring out how to do all the nursing positions properly as a new mom. Now at 19 months old, I feel like a pro. They get so creative with it as they get older. We are making up new positions over here!

Just to find something comfortable for as many hours in a day we do it, was huge! We had a rough start just trying to figure out breast feeding that I was willing to try anything.

We also love the side lying here !! My baby already knows and just takes me to the bed to lay down with his blanket :face_holding_back_tears:

I love this reminder! :face_holding_back_tears::white_heart: Sometimes breastfeeding takes a lot of patience and trial and error, especially when both mom and baby are learning together. I love that you kept trying until you found what worked for you! Side lying nursing can be such a lifesaver, especially when you’re exhausted and dealing with back pain. Every mom and baby are different, and finding what brings you both comfort is so important

We also love side lying. Now at 4 months my baby became used to it and expects to be bottle fed in the same position :joy:

I love this so much because sometimes it really is just a matter of trying again later  Babies are learning just as much as we are, so something that doesnt work the first few times might eventually become your favorite position. Side lying was such a game changer for me too, especially when my body was tired and sore. And honestly that feeling when you finally figure it out together after struggling for weeks is THE BEST :sob::heart_hands:

It’s amazing how often they nurse as newborns. Nobody ever prepared me for that, so I was surprised!

I’m due with my 2nd next week and hoping we can adjust to things easier, with my experience. But I also know every journey and baby can be different, I’m just hoping for it to be smoother and more comfortable earlier than last time.

I love the side laying position!

We love the side laying position I fear my son will protest any other position at this point

Mine does!

So glad to hear you didn’t give up on something you truly wanted. You both look super comfortable. I also wanted to mention not to forget your hashtags, titles and topics to be included into the events going on.
