Asking for help is the best thing we can do

Asking for help can sometimes feel awful, but it’s the best thing we can do for ourselves and our little families. It is so easy to feel like we have to manage everything on our own, but reaching out is a sign of strength, not failure.

When we ask for help as mothers, the good far outweighs the temporary discomfort. Stepping up to say “I need a hand” keeps us from running completely on empty, which means we can show up with more patience, energy, and presence for our children. Just as importantly, it models a crucial life lesson for our kids: that nobody is expected to carry everything alone, and that seeking support when you’re overwhelmed is healthy and brave. Plus, when we open up about needing help, it breaks the pressure of trying to look like we have it all together, giving other mothers permission to lean on community, too.

How do you get past that uncomfortable feeling when you know you need a hand?

I couldn’t agree more with you! Asking for help does not make you week or any less of a mom!

I just said this exact thing it can be so hard but it’s one of the best and strongest things we can do!!!

We take care of others best when we take care of ourselves

Welcome to the community!! I wish we had a helping hand unfortunately we are a military family and constantly moving, so far away from family and once we trust friends, we leave or they do!

You are so right. I said the same thing a few days back. I am still learning to accept help.

Welcome!! This is such an important tip. I feel like I struggled with this in the beginning, especially because it was my first pregnancy and motherhood experience. I felt like I needed to prove to myself that I could do a lot of things alone, and I did and I could, but at the cost of self-care once I recognize that people actually did want to step in and help and could handle it at least for a couple hours I was able to ease up a little and do things for myself. It was really important for me to have time for myself or with my dog or with my partner where I wasn’t in a caretaking role.

Thank you for sharing! I remind myself that asking for help doesn’t mean I’m failing, it means I’m human. We weren’t meant to do motherhood alone, and accepting support gives us the chance to be more present for our little ones.

Yes to all! Welcome to the community. Such a beautiful baby

This is such an important reminder:purple_heart:I think as moms we get so used to being the ones who take care of everyone that asking for help can almost feel like we’re failing somehow. I’m learning that it’s okay to say “I need help” without feeling guilty about it. Sometimes taking care of ourselves and accepting support is exactly what allows us to be the best mom we can be. :face_holding_back_tears::white_heart:

Yes girl, this one is SO hard for me :sob: I feel like as moms we get so used to just figuring it out and pushing thru that asking for help almost feels wrong sometimes. But honestly, I’ve had to learn that I dont have to do everything myself. Even just saying “hey, I could really use some help today” can make such a difference. And fr, sometimes that little break is what helps you reset and be a better mama instead of running yourself completely empty
