I had my daughter 1w 2d ago and im just getting ready to start breastfeeding. I wasn’t doing it before because I had a c-section and with the morphine they gave me for pain and the hydrocodone they prescribed for at home, I didn’t feel comfortable doing so. I have been pumping and dumping to increase my supply. Now that I have been off my prescription for 3 days, I know feel comfortable breastfeeding. I am nervous though. I had a stillborn last year so this will be my first time actively breastfeeding.
Any tips that you other moms can share? Has anyone else been through what I have been through? Does the fear go away? Any advice is great and any help with ease of mind would be appreciated.
So incredibly sorry for your loss mommaI posted a link for the more recent campaign Momcozy did for tips, advice and more.
I am a 4 time mom at home(5 deliveries, 4 at home 4 and under, 7 angel babies including a stillborn and a nicu mom). So I’ve got 11 babies and just now my most recent delivery I learned that breastfeeding reduces SIDS! pretty incredible.
Be patient with yourself and baby and be consistent with pumping you’ll do great momma!! This is a great place to come for help!
You are already doing an amazing job by keeping up with pumping! Pumping is no joke and takes a lot of work and effort! You are already doing your best to care for your baby and trying to keep your supply up to provide for your sweet baby! I am so sorry for your loss. I know the fear that comes with loss..i have unfortunately had many miscarriages. I have 4 rainbow babies. I had 6 miscarriages before giving birth to my first rainbow baby. It is a lot and there comes a lot of different emotions with it all. I highly recommend finding an amazing lactaction consultant who can give some extra support during this time as you start something new and adjust. I have had some not so great but also one amazing consultant who has supported me through 2 pumping or breastfeeing journeys. One peace of advice is be gracious to yourself, be flexible, and know you are doing an amazing job! It takes a lot of dedication to pump and dump. I have had to work very hard to pump and breastfeed my last 4 babies and it has looked different every single time. My first rainbow baby I was able to exclusively breastfeed. My second had a tongue and lip tie and i had zero support and just breastfed and had to supplement with formula, i made it 6 months before I got my cycle and dried up completely. With my 3rd, that sweet baby had a tongue, lip, and cheek ties and I ended up for my own sanity exclusively breastfeeding for 8 months until I got sick due to mold toxicity and had to quit cold turkey and that was a hard decision and adjustment. Thankfully with my 4th rainbow I was able to breastfeed at night after working so hard and going through so much to get there and it took 4 solid months of worj before i was able to do so and then during the day I pumped and was able to provide my milk for over a year! I made it past my goal. I have had to learn to let go of my expectations and plans and know that I have worked hard to provide all I can and that I have done all I can and it is okay for it to be different than I had planned! I am cheering you on and know you are already doing all you can to provide! Support and encouragement is the best advice I can give! They are so needed! Sorry for the novel but I hope this helps and helps you to know that you are not alone and doing an amazing job mama! Your baby is so blessed to have you working so hard already to provide!
