What helped my journey

What helped me with breastfeeding was lowering my expectations. As a first time mom, breastfeeding seems soooo overwhelming, so I went into my journey hopeful, but it wasn’t “all or nothing” for me. The first week I had to use formula because the LC at the hospital was a joke, and I had no clue what I was doing. The pump I ordered wasn’t great, so I ordered a Momcozy one and found the Fans Club group and scrolling through there helped me gain confidence and knowledge to figure out how to breastfeed. I was then an exclusive pumper because I couldn’t get my son to latch, then around 1.5/2 months we figured it out and I began nursing & pumping and was able to donate 8,000 ounces during my journey.

Lowering my expectations and not telling myself I HAD to breastfeed helped me, because I knew as long as my son was fed, everyone was going to be okay.

You are not measured by the amount of milk you produce. You are not a failure for making less than your baby eats, and you are not a bad mom if you weren’t able to breastfeed.

Stay hydrated. Eat proteins. Get sleep. Stay on schedule. Everything will work out :heart:

It’s crazy how many doctors are not educating new mothers about breastfeeding. It’s almost like they get a payout from the formula companies for encouraging mothers to use formula instead of helping them learn about breastfeeding. :thinking:

I love your Momcozy pitcher! How appropriate! :joy:

I posted about this exact same thing! I’m so glad you have that same mindset! That mindset really does help you succeed. Lower your expectations on yourself and just being able to enjoy your baby and postpartum:heart::heart::heart: so many congrats to you!!! KUDOS

LCs at hospitals are so terrible! Mine gave me a poor latch score in my chart (that I saw after leaving) and never spoke to me about it. So when we had issues, I assumed it was the latch. I stressed and watched 600 videos on a good latch. Even my husband was researching and scoring our latch! There was no issue with my latch, our latch was great.

Such a needed reminder! Fed is best, and protecting your mental health along the way is everything. :beating_heart:

I’m so happy you found what worked for you I was lost as well and I ordered my air1 and high saved me and it connected to the app which is what led me to this amazing community of moms who helped guide me with zero judgement!! Truly is amazing

It’s so discouraging for first time moms! I can’t help but wonder how many would have thrived in breastfeeding with the proper education.

I knew if I went into it with any kind of expectation I’d be so immediately discouraged so I tried my absolute best to have an open mind to everything

Mine didn’t even do that! She just popped in once when my boyfriend was asleep and got mad that he wasn’t up and helping our baby :zany_face:

I was thinking the same thing!

I couldn’t agree more. Social media sets the bar so high and sometimes us mom feel as though we need to meet those expectations.

That is amazing you donated so much!

I agree, sister:heart::face_blowing_a_kiss::breast_feeding:t4:
