One thing I hope the support list doesn’t leave out is there is another method you can use to get your baby to latch on if they’re having a hard time latching to your breast. As a mom of 3 , I decided to breastfeed with my third child because of issues I had with my second child .
When my third was born, I was having difficulty getting him to latch on to my actual nipples because they were flat. I used a handheld pump but noticed nothing was coming out of my breasts and oh yes I did become stressed out. Thankfully the hospital had lactation there that demonstrated my baby on me on different positions to get him to breastfeed and even advised I use a nipple shield due to my nipples being very flat. Once I started using the shield it wasn’t easy at first but then I started practicing more and more with it and my baby was getting the milk he needed and it was even a lot of milk coming out when using the nipple shield to.
I never knew that a nipple shield even existed until the day I was at the hospital and told by a nurse that a nipple shield would probably work better. My advice is whether ur nipples are flat or ur baby just isn’t latching on use the nipple shield it really works. Yes it may take a little practice but I promise it’ll be worth it.
