Hey y’all. I’m a 41 yr old mom of 3, pregnant with my 4th. Any mamas here have home births after 40? Or even after 35? After 3 hospital births, I do not want to do that again. For registered nurse midwives or doulas or anyone else with experience, how often do you see mamas in this age range have to transfer to the hospital?

Do you have a birthing center in your area that might be an option to look into as well.
I have to second what Rachel said! A birth center is a great option! Or do you live far from the hospital if so that would be risky even if you were in your 20s
Just my opinion I wanted to do a home birth but we are an hour away from the hospital so I decided not too but again that’s a very personal choice
I do not where I am now but I’m actually moving soon, 1/2-way through my pregnancy. I’ve been looking for good resources where we are moving to and there seems to be one pretty close.

The hospital is 28-30 mins away from me right now. Where we are moving, it will probably be about the same.
Hi! I think it really depends on your health and individual situation. Most of the people I know who gave birth at 35 and older ended up having C-sections, some due to health issues, while others had emergency situations. If you feel healthy, your doctor is supportive, and you feel confident in your ability to do it, then it’s definitely worth discussing your options with your care team. Hugs

Thank you. Yes, I do have some conditions (hEDS, POTS + MCAS) that can cause issues throughout pregnancy and/or delivery, however, I have not had any major super serious issues with pregnancies and no problems at all with deliveries in any of my previous 3.
I’m very hopeful that there will be zero issues. I just wanted to see if there was a statistic for women around my age and successful homebirths.
