Becoming a mom, made me see where I really wanted to work and changed my focus. All my nursing career I worked at adult hospitals. When I came back from maternity leave it felt different and I felt like I was treated differently. I was casually looking but my focus had changed to L&D or peds.
I had an offer that was going to be L&D but the person who left wanted to come back. I started a harder search in those two areas, in Oct of last year I applied at large children’s hospital I had wanted to work at but really didn’t pursue much previously. Right around new years I got a call for an interview. I was told I was the right fit for them and they really wanted to get me a job there. Well later that day I got called about another position they had they thought would be great for me. Well I got that job I didn’t even apply for. I am so happy to be where I am at now. If I wouldn’t have had my daughter, I don’t know if I would have made this change or not.
