Originally induced for today but at my last appointment, the doctor told me I can choose between today and the 18th as long as it’s before my due date, the 19th. No one called me to reschedule, I had to call Friday, and Monday because I still didn’t hear from anyone. Someone finally reached out to me Monday after I called again then tried telling me the 15th and I didn’t have a choice, after a Dr told me I did and I was speaking to a nurse. A doctor called me today because I was refusing the 15th, they kept trying to scare tactic me into going the 15th but didn’t have a legit reason why. Baby is measuring great and not big at all, my sugars have been fine, baby is still moving all throughout the day, my fluids are great. If my situation was serious, original Dr wouldn’t have gave me an option to choose a date. The Dr today and from yesterday tells me they rather do Saturday then Sunday the 16th because they are short staffed lol. Like what? It’s a hospital, SOMEBODY in there will deliver me. So glad I stood my ground and not give in because of their own convenience. Which baby could still come on his own within these 3 days. Also told me we prefer to induce when on insulin before 39w 6d, I said ma’am I’ll be 39w 4d on the 16th so what are we talking about. She called me back 20m later telling me they were in fact able to schedule for me Sunday instead of Sat. Yeah I know lol. Don’t let these doctors scare you into things for their sake. Girl, I’m so glad you stood your ground and advocated for yourself and your baby! 
You know your situation, and if you were truly in an emergency situation, they wouldn’t have originally given you a choice of dates. It’s crazy that they tried to pressure you just because it was more convenient for them. 
I’m glad you trusted your gut and kept asking questions until they gave you the option you were originally promised. Wishing you a safe and smooth induction and a healthy baby!

I would be frustrated too if I was told I had a choice and then suddenly they were acting like I didnt. And the whole “we’d rather do Saturday because we’re short staffed” would have had me likeeee 
because how is that supposed to be my problem lol.
I’m glad you kept asking questions and didnt just agree because they were trying to rush you. You know your care plan and you deserve to actually understand WHY something is being recommended, not just be scared into it. And look at thattt, suddenly Sunday was available Sometimes you really do have to advocate for yourself and keep speaking up!! Hope everything goes smoothly mama and baby decides to stay cozy until then
I’m so glad you did!! And this right here is one of the main reasons I think doulas are so important they understand the difference between necessity and their convenience and if you aren’t knowledgeable they ca. ve a great source of advocacy!!!

Wow that’s crazy they were trying to get you to change your mind after what the doctor told you. Their staffing isn’t your problem. If you’re giving birth, they will have someone there guaranteed!

That’s really the part that got me is being under staffed, like huh? It’s a hospital make it make sense. No seriously you HAVE to speak up for yourself or else they will try to run over you. Baby is doing great, they even told me today he’s already starting to breathe on his own in the womb. Just three more days. 
Yes exactly and I called my doula right after to let her know and she said I did the right thing. Yes ma’am lol I don’t play, as much as I’m ready I want to give my baby as much time as I can to come on his own. Plus due dates are just estimated. But I’m going to go ahead and keep Sunday only because I am on insulin. So only three days left. 
Exactly, it was so crazy but I didn’t back down. And got my date.
You did the right thing if I was your doula I’d be so proud of you omg !!! you are going to be one heck of a mama

. Yes I’m finally starting to get nervous lol, I’m not even trying to get him to come anymore because I really don’t want him to come Saturday lol plus my body just be wanting to rest. Although I cleaned my whole living room today . BUT Saturday night I’m going to walk up and down stairs, to the beach in the sand and bounce on the ball lol.
I’m sorry they put you through that. My first induction we went to the hospital everyday just to be told to go home they were to busy and will do it the next day. By Friday I was done there was no delaying another day
I wish they would’ve told me to go home and come back lol

This is so frustrating. Myself and a friend experienced a similar situation with inductions. They some to be more of a scheduling convenience for the delivery team rather than for mom and baby and their reasoning can be lacking if they provide any at all. VERY frustrating that they try to fear monger you as well. Every situation is different though and I can understand that. I hope for you everything goes safe and smooth, and with a little nudge your baby with make their appearance on their time happy and healthy! You’ve got this mama!

Girl these doctors will literally try to control you to their convenience if you don’t speak up, even if you speak up like you said they will fear monger you. That’s why I make sure to know all my stuff and not get forced when I don’t have to. And thank you.
